    just bought a used 797 humminbird what chip would u recommend ,i fish in your area from birdsong to danville railroad trussel or would u even buy one thanks in advance

    I have NVB. I never seen the others. I have Ky Hydrographics maps. I use the Ky Hydro maps and load waypoints and tracks onto the 997. I basically use the 997 to verify the Ky Hydro maps. Ky Hydrographics maps are dead on accurate.

    It is a catch 22 with the 797 without nvb. You can either record or you can use maps. Can't do both at the same time. Only has one card slot.

    I don't know anything about Navionics mapping software. Most mapping stuff works about the same though.

    If it were me, I would get the best maps available the first time.

    thanks ,i think i figured out what i need ,its the navionics hotmaps prem for east region
