    Default Hey Cane Pole

Did you order that LCX-27 directly from Lowrance to get it for $600.00 with the rebate?

    Thanks
    Kevin

I ordered it from Star Marine Depot. I gotta mail in for the rebate. Star Marine got good prices and I bet Lowrance is prob coming out with "new" stuff in a few months. Clearing the closet sales.

    Thanks, Cane Pole

I have been reading everyone's post trying to decide what to do. I had a Lowrance X55-A on the front of my boat and X70A on the console. I have been wanting to upgrade becuase I currently have no GPS. I thought that I wanted a HB-997-SI but looking at all the post has made me wait and see. But as luck would have it the X55-A has went out. So after reading your post on linking different units together I could use some more advice if you were going to replace both depth finders and have GPS on at least one of them.
What would you recommend ? Thanks for any advice you could share on this!

    Thanks
    Kevin

I have the Lowrance Globalmap 5200 with the external 3000 puck. It has worked very well. Good unit.

I also bought the X510c sonar that unfortunently has the freezing up shallow water problem. After considerible messing around with Lowrances customer service and sending the unit in twice for two software changes I deceided to pull the plug on it.

These two units were mounted side by side on my counsel. looked good together.

I replaced the X510c with a Vexilar Edge2. Alot of the new Lowrance sonars aren`t working in shallow weedy water software issue that they have yet to fix.

I would get a stand alone GPS Garmin or Lowrance. If you have Lowrance graphs that work good keep them. I upgraded from my X75 to the X510c. The X75 worked flawlessly for the 7 years I had it, the X510c is junk.
Right now if I were buying a sonar I reconmend Vexilar or Humminbird.
    I`m glad I didn`t buy a combo unit.

I don't like to recommend any particular unit. All have good and bad points. Everyone has an opinion about these combos.

Personally, I don't care much about the combos, but it is kinda a necessary evil with Humminbird SI unless you wanna do some PIA rigging'.

I just purchased a Lowrance LX27c just for the big screen. I did not want the maps or the GPS, but the LX27c is capable of these features. Before I made this purchase, I was looking at the Humminbird 917c. LX27c 250-300 bucks cheaper if you call 600 bucks cheap.

I use separate hand held GPS. I like the mobility of the hand helds. Move from boat to boat without rewiring.

I fish with a couple of fellers that couldn't find the end of the boat ramp without the GPS.

I never know whose or what boat I might be using to fish from. The hand held gives this flexibility.
