    Default Question for Cane Pole

    Hey Cane Pole,
I have been looking at PC based sonar and PC GPS and was curious if you have tried any of these products.Interphase: PC/VIEW , Qstarz eXtreme Bluetooth GPS Receiver (51 ch MTK, 32hrs, 1-5Hz Configurable, Dual USB/Bluetooth)(Your Choice of Free Mount) - buy GPS Now. I am going to buy a Motion PC and try some ship based GPS managment. Waypoints are getting out of control. Anyway, take care and good fishin. ><>

Interphase is a parallel printer interface. They are working on a usb type interface (so they told me). Not familiar with that bluetooth unit.

I personally have/use a Garmin GPS10 bluetooth and I use the PCFF80 blackbox sonar from CruzPro. It is excellent. I have been talking to Vartec about a sunlight viewable, waterproof monitor. Too pricey ($3500 for monitor). If I could get a good monitor, I would have a windows based system far superior to anything available from the Big Dogs. If you find a good monitor, I am in business. I plan to use the microIPX windows based waterproof PC. Little bitty PC.

This all works now. I just use my laptop when I wanna play with it. I forget how to use it sometimes. (ask Jeff or Todd, or Paul).

PCFF80 is highly flexible. I can even control the transmit power level. Great feature when your are in shallow water. It can also record. I got 250 GIG.

I built my own power interface so I can run all this stuff off a 12v battery.

If you ever my way, give me a shout. I will show you this stuff. It is interesting.

I don't really need sidescan. I just got one to play with. I have the Ky Hydrographics maps. Sidescan already done for my area for the most part.

If I get off my lake, I am a lost soul.

Forgot to add that I need a bigger boat to put all this stuff on. The Tracker is full.

I have the Motion Computing unit that I use with this stuff. It works good too.

    Cane Pole,

I wish I could just know what you've forgotten.

Thanks for all your input, helping the rest of us understand, or for some of us, confusing us even more.

    Cane Pole,
Smarties and know it all's don't share, they just want admiration. You help the rest of us out explaining what manuals could never pretend to cover. Real experience trumps every time. Thanks again

    Thanks Cane Pole,
I forgot you were field testing CRUZPRO. I have been looking at the Aussie system and was getting interested until I ran out of play money. I would like to see your system and talk to you someday. Please PM your phone number and we will see what happens. I use to put in at the pump house and stay at Coachs' place. I have a place at Grand Rivers now and I don't go south much these days. Thanks for all you do for Crappie dot com.
