    What seems to be the best place to buy a 1197, as far as price and service go? I am looking to buy one in the next month or so and have just started looking around. I have found them several hundred dollars cheaper on ebay than they are at BPS, but always a little leary when dealing on the internet.

    My friend and I both bought a 797 from J & H this spring and they were good to deal with. Delivered when they said and no problems.

    Same here ---bought from J &H --several hundred cheaper than the big two---makes you wonder how much profit is in those things

    Don't know J&H, but do know Three Rivers Marine. Do yourself a favor and pick up the phone and ask how much they will sell one to you for. Often times, they'll quote a price under what is on the web since most all of the FF companies require they advertise only MAP pricing. Not sure how J&H is getting away with it, unless they are not a certified dealer......not that, that would mean they are shady or anything, just that they do not have that agreement with H'bird etc....

    Not to hi-jack this thread but....has anyone looked at the 1197 in person. This thing is HUGE. It makes the 997 look like a pocket watch. It needs to have RCA inputs so I can watch DVD's while the fish aren't biting.

    Three Rivers Marine has treated me well. And they have quite a following on another Bass site with lots of traffic. The great thing is one of two people will answer the phone when you call. And they own it and are extremly knowledgeable. And they will be one of the cheapest places on the net.

    I have also purchased for Scuba Steves and they had good prices and good service.
