997 record and other stuff...
Crappiestalker and I put out a lot of crappie hi risers yesterday. We marked all the high risers with the Garmin GPS76 as we pickled the bombs. After we dropped the stuff, we went back and side scanned (recorded) the high risers.
We then reviewed the recordings and marked the droppings using the 997 tools.
Next, we rode over the droppings with the 997 GPS waypoints and the Garmin GPS 76 waypoints. The Garmin was dead on as we drove over the droppings. The 997 waypoint was about 20 feet off (on all waypoints).
The lat/long matched up within .01 sec. Both units were set to dms.
I could get close with the 997 but when I ran over the droppings waypoint Icon, it never showed up on the sonar. When I use the Garmin, I ran right over the droppings Icon and I could see it on the 997 sonar, but the waypoint were 20 feet off to the right. 997 was set split screen: map view, sonar.
I didn't get to calibrate the 997 NVB map. The lake was choppy with boat traffic and the grand kids wanted "tubing".
Going back to the lake tomorrow after Dr appt. Checkup time. Bend over Rover.
Will try calibrating NVB Tuesday. (MAP OFFSET FUNCTION).
