    Default Beware of Humminbird upgrade

I just tried to install an upgrade on my 787c2i. The unit was working fine before the install. Now it will not power up. when you turn it on the loading screen appears then blinks and the screen goes black, Then it repeats that over and over. I talked to Humminbird for 30 minutes trying to figure out what happened. I now have to send the unit to them at MY COST and will have to wait 3-5 days for the repair plus the days to ship.

I was told that this upgrade would make things run SMOOTHLY and take care of some problems others were having. Now I'm out of pocket. I know this could happen to any brand out there, But when you spend this much money on something you sure don't want this to happen.

So much for fishing over the holiday weekend!

Dang that stinks. After we talked, I was thinking about doing the update
on mine, but I guess I'll not now. At least anytime soon. Jeff

Well, the Humminbird problem has been solved!!! The new Garmin 276c will be here in a couple days. Now we'll have a gps unit that we KNOW will work and not be a constant pain in the butt. It may not be a combo unit, but Garmin has proven itself for us before and we can get on with fishing instead of bi***ing about the POS HB. On the plus side as well, it already comes with the cabling and a power cord and you don't have to mess with HB PC either.

By the way, when the HB comes back from the service center, it's for sale CHEAP.

    He Jeff,

I just talked to Paul. He was doing the upgrade from the sd card. That method is not bullet proof either. Oh well.

    I got 102C pains.

First time ever I have had a sonar failure and this no failures time covers over 30 years time too.

    Got Chinese gremlins everywhere now.
