    Default Mercury problems


    90 hp 2002 Rough idle yesterday and when oped up it falls flat on its face at top speed. Changed plugs last night and this morning started fine run fine until we hit top speed and died again but never did it but once. It kinda has some sound to it though. Whats ya'lls thought?

    It might not apply to your's, but I had a pickup tube that was split up the side. It would idle around fine, but on WOT the gas level would drop below the start of the split and suck air. That's all I got. LOL Try iboats forums too, there's some good guys on there.

    well if it has been a while since you had it out last your high speed jet in the carburators are plugged up.

    or one i had the vent line on the gas tank suck closed

    but most likely the carburator high speed jet just pull it out and spray it with carb cleaner till it is open put it back.

    Try the Web Site Bass Boat Central: They have a Mercury Forum there and Several Mercury Mechanics Monitor and respond to Questions. They are some of the best most knowledgable people I have seen. Your problem doesn't seem too bad, I'll bet they can answer you problem pretty quick.

    nope. start with checking all your fuel lines and then move on to the fuel pump. i think your sucking air, but not enough til their is a greater demand for fuel
