    Default

I've got a 797 on a 16 ft tracker with a 45# tm and it works just fine. I was playing with it slow trolling at about .5 to 1 mph, depending on the head wind, and had the chart speed set at 1. Looked really clear and the proportions on the screen looked about right and was clear. I read on here somewhere that the rule of thumb was to set the chart speed to about the speed you were running. Works for me so far. But to answer your question, from my limited experience you are good to go.

    Default chart speed

My brother and I bought a 797 a couple of months ago. We had the same problem with the picture. It was burred and grainy. The guys on this forum said to make sure we run a straight line, try to match chart speed to how fast you are running. It worked. They also said if we would just shoot one side and bring in the view to around 60 would get clearer and larger. It worked great for us. Hope this helps. When the president sends out his stimulas check I think we are going to upgrade tp the 997 for the console and 797 on trolling motor.
