    Is there a hard drive in those puppies? If so that would explain the need for a 3 amp fuse. The initial surge to get it spinning.

    I think they are using solid state hard drives in these units Bill. I might be wrong. I'm not an "insider". haha

    Yep......

    More than likely there is an internal fuse or fuse resistor to protect the guts. Only accessible by opening unit. Some folks just don't need access...(like me).........
