I just got my 797 and was a little disapointed that it didn't come with a memory card like my old Lowrance did. Where is the best place to get a card, what brand and how big of a card should I get. I didn't see anything listed in the list for accessories.

If your are planning on taking lots of snap shots, get a 2 gig card.. There is no noticable difference in "quality of the picture from brand to brand. However, there are big differences in how fast the different brands will save to the card.. The fastest one is the Sandisk which averages around 2-3 seconds.. Others can take up to 8 secodns to save.
Last year some folks were having trouble with no name memory cards would work one day or few times then no pictures. Sandisk users never had this problems so most of us on sidefinder site have gone to & stayed with Sandisk. The 2 gig size is great holds 60 to 70 plus picts. Speed=Ultra 2 takes about 5-7 seconds, the Extreme III takes 2 maybe 3 at most to take pict. Somebody, major electronic stores always have these on sale on their web pages sites. My Extreme III, 2gig size cost $32.00 on sale. I try to avoid trouble so I have avoided those other cards its all about $
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.....

This place has a rebate on the Sandisk Extreme III cards but I'm not sure when it expires.

The price isn't bad even with out the rebate. One thing on these cards, for the computer you need a card reader that is compliant with the SDHC (SD High Capacity) standard. But! The 4gb cards come with a USB Micro Reader. I got mine already and they work. Now I'm just waiting on the rebate.
One suggestion if you go this route, enlarge the PDF rebate and copy the one you want. Then take it into a photo shop program to fill it out. Those little boxes are so small its a royal pain trying to write letters in them. This is way easier.
Some of the guys over at the Yahoo users group found out some cards don't work with the Humminbirds. So far the Sandisks have worked for every one. One thing to think about when deciding size, the new program the guys on www.xumba.scholleco.com are working on for that recording viewer, your going to need lots of memory to record. This isn't screen snap shots but to be able to play back what you saw all day on your computer. This is where the faster Extreme III speed might come in handy.

Today was my first day out with a Sandisk Extreme III 1GB card. It was twice as fast as a normal Crucial disk that I had.
Took 30 minutes of recordings, and 20 snapshots and it only used 70MB, so I don't see the need for a 2GB card, but that's me.
Got the card at TigerDirect.com for something like 25.00.
