After idling around today doing scans and finding some stuff that I wanted to fish, I turned off the motor and jumped up front and turned on my lowrance unit. It's a black and white X96. After looking at it for 2 seconds, I realized that it was fairly useless to me now, which sucks because I've only used it 4 times. So rather then buy another 797, I though it'd be Economical enough just to buy the Trolling motor transducer and another gps puck and mount so I could just power it off and move the head to the front of the boat, etc.

Does anyone do this, and do you find that it's a pain. The more I think about it, the more I think I'd like it. I guess I should price out a color unit with internal GPS for the front so I can just export the waypoints, I don't know though.

Side-imaging is way too addictive IMO. :D there may be a SI Anon group forming soon.
