    Unhappy Humminbird PC Connection?

What in the world is Humminbird thinking with the mickey mouse PC connection cable? 2 9v batteries to run the unit off of? To be so technology driven this sure is a knuckle head move. I know they are probably going to say it was an attempt to keep the unit safe from power surges or something but why not add an in line fuse? Not a very good selling point.

    Joby...can you answer this one.

I got a Power cable, the smallest 12vt battery I could buy, put a fuse link in it & wala! Works great & I can stay on it for hours! :D

Sounds like a good fix but we shouldn't even be having to jerry rig our expensive HB units so that we can use them in the house.

get a +12v switch mode 3-4 amp power supply from Power Stream. Fuse it with 3a in line fuse @ +12v output.. Match polarity of wires from power supply and 787 power cable. Solder and insulate (heat shrink) all wiring connections.

I plugged mine into the ac output of my UPS (in case of power failure).

Costs about 25 bucks for the switchers. No battery to fool with.

Let me know if you need help.

Is there anywhere you can buy the cable other than direct from HB?

Also John, if you got an old AT or ATX computer power supply (300w or greater), you can use it. Tie into the yellow wire for +12v and tie into the black for ground. Be sure to fuse at 3a.

    These are well regulated supplies.
