    Default Adding another Humminbird....Need help.

    O.K.

First the equipment list I already have.

    1. Humminbird 997 si mounted at the console.
    2. MinnKota Maxxum Pro US2 80lb 24v Trolling motor.
    3. Buying the Humminbird 787c for the front of the boat.

I want to connect the 787c2 into the 997 so I can share GPS locations.
I want to connect the wire from the US2 port on the TM to the 787. I think the part I need for this is MKR-US2-8 from MinnKota.

My question is....Has anyone else done this and did it work o.k.? What cable will I need to connect the two units to each other and is there anything else I'm forgetting or missing.

I'll try to post pics of the RAM mount I used on the 997. I haven't seen this one anywhere else.

(P.S. If anyone has upgraded to something nicer and looking to get rid of your 787c2, I'm gonna be buying one in the next few days. I don't need the transducer.)

    Thanks,
    Buzz

I had my older 400TX hooked up that way.
And have the same cable MKR-US2-8 for the terrova and the one you are showing is the one that Minn Kota shows to work.
It sure makes it easy to hook up. connect one wire and that is it on the trolling motor.
You will need this to share the way points between the units

Like you I am also looking for a used 787c2. but so far have not seen one for sale.

    Shiloh,

Will I need any cables to connect to that box or do they come with the 787?

    Default Ram Mount

Here is a pic of the mount. Its a RAM 109-H. I had one of the ball type mounts but it seemed to move around alot because of the weight of the 997. This thing is solid as a rock.

    Buzz,

If you are also wanting to share GPS information waypoints ect. you will want the Interlink. The part number is AS INTERLINK.

    Joby,

Thanks for the response. Is the 787 sold in any of the packages without the transducer? I'll be hooking mine up to my US2 MinnKota. Also, will I need any additional wires for using the interlink.

    Thanks,
    Buzz

O.K. I'm sorry to be such a pain but I'm wondering if I need the 787 since I'll be sharing the GPS info with the Humminbird 997. Does anyone know if there is a unit available without a transducer or GPS antenna installed? I'm guessing the interlink box will allow me to share the GPS puck I already have. Just trying to buy the right thing for the least amount of money since I've invested so much in the main unit.

    Thanks,
    Buzz

Go to Humminbird.com and it will show you some units that come without the Transducer and not Receiver for the GPS.
I think its listed as as a CHO unit.
    No Transducer

    NO receiver for the GPS

The interlink will help you out. We have a 997 console and 787c2i at front. When you get it all hooked up the 787 will ask which gps ant. to use. I think its 3 choices but we kept the front ext ant and pulled wire back to console. Only deal is our mark at console will be about 10ft off but not big deal.

I am about to do the same set up and was wondering if all the cables come with the system link?
