I have Humminbird 535 that just started having vertical lines that look like interferance both above the bottom signal and up to the surface. this unit is about 4 years old and has been a great little unit until now. It has the quick disconnect mount that I swap the 161 with. I didn't try to swap them out but was wondering if the contacts in the base could be causing this. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so what did you do to correct?

Is it a through hull mount? Sometimes a loose transducer can give you vertical lines as the unit waits for a response.
I would double check my installation where it is mounted like CatFan stated. You stated that you had a 161. Both of theses units run off of the same transducer. You can swap them and see if it is the unit or the transducer.
If you have to use Humminbird Service the turn around time is 3 Days from the time we receive it in to the time we ship it back out.

Also try it without running the other unit as it may be interfernce between the two transducers.
Removing and reinstalling head to mount several times seems to have been the trick. Must have been dirty terminals.
