I use the old Ronald Ragean principle. Trust but verify.

I trust my self enough to know where the "stuff" is, but I use the magic box to verify it.

While you SI'ers are looking at your screens trying to read and work the machine I'll be pulling in the slabs using the traditional way..fishing for them...

And while your catching big slabs, I'll be scanning under your boat and marking the spot. LOL! I don't have mine yet but will.

How detailed is the side scan? Are u actually able to see your lure if you've cast 30 ft or so from the boat? would u be able to see your jigs if you were trolling or spiderrigging?

So is the sonar showing the fish like it were a camera looking down, or should I be turning my head to the left and looking at it that way? I'm looking on the right side of the line in the middle.

ok basically you see the fish you can move pointer on it it will tell you how many feet it is from you.. like say that school was 80 foot to the right. you would have neverseen them with any other unit unless you were on top of them... the screen splits the middle right is right, left is left

That is amazing , I bought one but haven't been able to use it yet, I was wondering if they tell you how deep the fish is or do you use the split screen and pick it up on the sonar?
