    Default Terrova Auto Pilot???

Anyone own a Minn Kota Auto Pilot? I'm looking at buying one but wanted to know what your experiences were with it. Can you hover in auto pilot? Example- I want to longline a brushpile on the creek channel so I position the boat over it and set my speed to match the current or wind. I can then just sit there and fish w/o worrying about constantly working the trolling motor to stay in one spot.

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated. If you have bought one where do you suggest getting one. Cabelas had the 55AP for $909.00.

    Thanks,
    CH.

In a constant wind with very little gusts it is no problem to hover over a spot. Though I don`t understand longlining while sitting still? Did you mean tightlining?

I have one on the way. When it and the new boat ever find each other. I will let you know. Or we can try it out.

Tried my new Terrova for the first time last weekend. Drastic improvement over the old Power Drives. Really like that I can use the foot control and switch to the Copilot without changing anything. Foot control is very much improved. Autopilot is smoother. Really like it.

Pete...we will do it. My boat came with a 40lb. thrust but I'm going to move up to a 55lb. That should push my 18ft. Express around in the wind.

Rockmike...appreciate the post. I think I'm going to order one within the next couple of months. Maybe I can catch one on sale somewhere.

    Thanks Guys!

    Hi John,

I like the V2/70 on my Tracker. I still have a few issues with it.

Locking, docking, and unlocking the motor. Pain in the arsh.

I've got a 55#w/auto pilot and co-pilot. Works like a dream. I have to agre with cane pole about the up and down part, and I can't stress this enough, don't ever forget to slide the locking ring up against the base every time you dock the motor. If you have ever seen one of those things raise up and go in the lake at about 40 MPH you will know what I mean. Ugly sight.
