Default new toy, and a question

Finally got my weathersense thingamajig in the mail today from Humminbird,
my freebie for buying a 700 series df... been waiting forever, backordered.

But the question is on another topic, Navionics mapping cards.
Have any of you using them found any really odd ERRORS on them?
I just got an '08 South, the first year for my home lake with them, and it
is in HD with the 1' contour lines - yee ha.

But the first evening I plugged it in and started looking at the map, I zoomed
in on one of my old spots, and noticed an incredible looking offshore hump...
I'd fished a brushpile on a drop close to there off and on for years, but had
just sort of looked over that area as "dead water" - deep, no channel,
just like a lot of that lake, flat and deep. Immediately it started running through my head, wow - maybe that's why that spot has always been
hit-n-miss, when they're not on the drop, maybe they're out on that hump!

Long story short, I trolled ALL over that area Monday, and THERE AIN"T
NO SUCH HUMP! It shows a roundish hump coming up to a peak of 25'
surrounded by 32' of water - but I zig-zagged all over the place, thinking
maybe the map's calibration was just off a bit - but no hump to be found.

I got to thinking, a LOT of the time big balls of shad will make even my
newer df's read the top of the school as bottom momentarily - you don't
think those dudes mapped a school of shad do you? :D

I think the next time the big crappie tourneys come to town, I'm gonna
just go sit next to that spot and watch everybody looking for that hump :D
It looks like a sure-fire killer spot, but

I don't know about fish but when I'm mapping, weeds can be the big glitch. At the end of the day I run the data points through some thing like Excel and have it graph the depths. Usually if you get a bad point its a jump. I don't like data that sticks out by itself so I make a note of where it was, delete it then go back and rerun that area only more. I call em bullseyes. They tend to be round.
Are there weeds in that area?

Jeff, I saw Navionics mapping Ky Lake here. They zipping along pretty good so I don't think I would put a lot of faith in their mapping details. It good for contours. They probably overlay their details on wgs 84 topos. I guessing here.

I've seen Ky Hydrographics out mapping. He is moving like a snail with the side scan mapping. The details show. You have seen my maps.

No Sir, weeds pretty much non-existant on this lake, deeper than 10-12'
anyway. This one I'm talking about is sorta oval shaped - about 7 contour
lines involved, from 32 up to 25'. If I get time (and figure out how to do it)
I may try to put up a screen shot of it, may try to record it this wkend.
Oh shoot, forgot - my old lady nabbed my blank sd card for her camera  May have to get another one first. But then also,
I've only got one card slot, so I guess I can't snapshot the map

No thats all right, I'll take your word. Another reason for doing your own mapping. Not only to you get that spot on the spot, but you know when its just an ink stain.
