    Bad Battery's.. My 24 volt will spark each and every time I hook the cable back up.
    Mine was doing like your talking about and it was the batters going bad.

    Replaced both trolling motor batteries with new Delco Voyager deep cycle and this seems to have solved the problem. Trolling motor pulls strong with no deminishing of power over time, and also, there was no spark when I hooked up the batteries.
