DrDepth or www.drdepth.se isn't actually a moving map software like Fugawi or Ozi Explorer but a program for collecting data to make your own maps. You can use the Lowrance sonar logs you've recorded in it or you can hook it up to a laptop in the boat and you'll have a great way to view a ten color representation of the range of depths you choose or it can set itself to the minimum/maximum range of what you're already gone over.
It can run on older machines, back even to 300 mhz by displaying just a colored dot by depth, which works almost as good, or if you got a faster machine it can actually compile a map as you go. You can down load the demo to play with and inside it has a special function under FILE - Demo that will let you run one of four files Per's set up from data he's collect so it looks like its doing it real time.
I like it cause its simple and it limits how far out it tries filling the map so you see where you need to go over to fill in areas.
It also can export contour lines in the SHP format so you can import them into the MapEdit program the users group on Yahoo has set up to make maps that will run on your Lowrances just like Lake Master or Navionics.
The program can also make a 3D map as you go but that takes a little better processor.
Lately I've been playing with a Humminbird 997 I picked up and DrDepth really works nice with it. Just wish I could make my own maps to run in it like we do for the Lowrances.
It also will make a colored raster map that you can use in most of the moving map softwares like Fugawi and Ozi.
