    Default Eagle Eye needs trifocals!

I hate to be a negative nelly, but my intention is not to ruin anyone but rather save the next poor schlub from making the same mistake I did.
It's also worth mentioning that I tired to give Bass Pro and Lowrance an opportunity to make it right. That said:
Lowrance Eagle Eye is garbage! Plain and simple, for crappie, don't do it.

It has a useful enough down mode that if you are trying to fish directly below your boat it might be good for something. However, the forward imaging is pointless. I knew it had a narrower field but trying to scope fish on trees 0-15 ft away is impossible. You can not see any useful amount of the water column in 20 FOW inside of about 40 ft. The beam is just too narrow. To say it another way, Starting at the boat you can only see about 0-1ft below the boat gradually getting deeper as you get further away. So 0-15 feet from the boat can only see the top few feet of the water column.

Now I'm a Lowrance guy, On my 2nd pairs of Elite units with AT1. I talked my dad into getting the Eagle Eye as it a pretty cheap way to get started, and being Lowrance, I could help support him while he fishes without me.

I tried to exchange and upgrade but Bass Pro refuses to take it back because it was "installed". Well how else would I find out that it's junk?
Lowrance won't even return my emails. I asked them for the same opportunity.

Is Eagle Eye right for you? If you are a crappie fisherman the short answer is most likely a big fat negatory.
For everyone else. The graph is pretty easy to operate. It has standard imaging and maps and might not be a bad first unit if you need all those things. My dad however already had a graph on the console and up front.

Shame on Bass Pro and Lowrance for not standing by their customers and products.

Thank you for the report, and am sorry they're doing this. Makes one shy away from the brand completely, just because of customer service...

Is this the first time you used it? Could be pollen in the water that might be messing with your returns. When you call Lowrance hit the prompt for Ghost service. You will get a knowledgeable person in the United States.

You are correct . It is for shallow water (25 ft . at most ) Distance about 40 ft , anything more you can't see bait.

Not trying to hijack your thread. If you are running AT1 have you installed the new 25.1 update and what kind of improvements did it make? Thanks in advance.

Ive got one and it's the only unit ive ever used.. Fricking awesome lol- if you've never used a live scope.. 25-30 feet of water depth and that 30-40 foot distance and I can see my crappie jig, just have to watch close..

Works as intended I belive, you want a cadillac, you got to pay the cadillac price.. I'm driving a pinto for now!!

Wouldn’t work for me as anymore I have to fish with glasses plus I’m really not a “scooper” anyway. Thank you for sharing your insights

I agree with you. 30+ feet away is no problem.
My lake if filled with trees and we basically snipe the crappie. Pull up near a tree 5-15ft from your bow, scan the tree for the big fish and drop a jig on their head with a long pole and WHAMO watch the fish on the screen as it gets yanked up. Can't do that with Eagle eye.
