first trip with 797si pics

ok fellows ive made up my mind. Im getting the new side scan sonar. the problem i have is, i cant understand whats going on in the pics. I will study this thread some more and see if i can understand it better. Im a Garmin man but willing to purchase another high end unit like the bird, if wife lets me :)

When you get back I'll take you out and check it out. Anytime time you can go. I never get enough of the hill. A dozen roses helped a lot

just like looking over shoulder either way with no water behind you. I had trouble until i went out with it

I finely get my transducer mounted so I can read speeds over 8mph. I posted the picture so it might help someone that’s in the same boat. I’d only do this as a last resort. I like to be able to see and clean them. I was not impressed with yahoo groups. They should tell if they work or not. I seen several I’m sure do not. I got to fish today and try out the sonar. It’s really great. Caught 12 stripes in 3 hrs., 90ft bottom, 45ft. deep over trees. I could see them come up throw the tree for my bait. Leaving in an hour to do it all over again

Cripp, I'll see you at russell in Oct. and check out your setup. I've about devastated my fishing budget for this year on my new boat (and next year too) but if it's as good as everyone says I may have to sell something and buy me one.

You put it in the most logical place. Where it works. I know what you mean about yahoo groups. WASTE OF TIME! I saw a few pictures of step mounts. They would only work when going slow. They ain't so smart. They don't know anymore about this stuff than anyone here that has used SI.

The only suggestion I would make is to get the slack out of your xducer cable. I posted a how to. It will let you get the slack out without drilling holes. It is posted here somewhere. I would also wrap the xducer cable with spiral wrap. But, that is just me.

I ain't tidied mine up yet. When I finalize ev erythijg. I will do this myself. Practice what I preach.

I wish other members would post pictures of how they mounted the SI Xducer. I would (or maybe crappie pappy) grab all the photos and have Ed add it to the archives for research and reference purposes.
