Default Looking for suggestions on depth finder

Just got a new to me boat with a Terrova that has the built in universal sonar 2 transducer that is currently not connected to anything. What would be a decent used head unit for 2d sonar only that wouldn't break the bank. Would prefer color with a decent size screen if possible. Thanks and shoot me a message if you have an old one laying around that you would like to sell.

My recommendation is to pick up the Navionics app for your phone. It shows what the depth should be at full pool, and the variations of depth under the lake. You can then adjust the depth based on how low the lake is.

If you are moving at a good clip the depth finder will not save your running gear unless your lake is really consistent in how it changes depth.

Let me know where you boat and I will post a screen shot of the app.

Thanks, I do have 2 other units on the boat, was just thinking it might be helpful/fun to have another screen with 2d sonar running while the trolling motor is deployed. Dont need mapping etc on it.

I have a older Lowrance Hook that I use up front. I use it for 2d, depth, temp, and speed. Mainly the speed for trolling

When I had a Terrova with US2, I previously used several different legacy Humminbird units in the 500, 700, 800, 900, and 1100-series on mine, and I was using a Garmin UHD 93sv for just 2D and temperature until I gave it to my dad. While several of my units had SI capability, I never really used the SI transducer when I did have one strapped to it and generally just used the US2 transducer. If you only need 2D, you can get one of the legacy Humminbirds for cheap these days.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

My helix 7 is but I have all views except 2-d & mapping turned off. Has worked fine for a few years.

I have an older Lowrance unit (HDS 7) that I have connected to my Terrova. For the most part I only use it for the GPS function but split the screen with 2d sonar.
It's nice having an extra unit to be able to move around different waypoints without switching screens on my Garmin between LS and Charts.

Thanks for the ideas. I found an old X-105C that i will be trying out. The price was right...free. If i find i use it a lot then i may upgrade to a $75 dollar unit with mapping
