So I’ve had the as gps hs puck for a while and after your post I decided to just go with it and not install the minnkota heading sensor yet.
It worked perfectly. Spot lock, go to waypoint, tracks, everything I thing I tried worked perfect.
Wind kicked up to around 12mph and I was still able to spider rig. Game changer!

    Ulterra link ipilot

Do I need to use the gps puck from humminbird to have my boat visible on screen and the minnkota heading sensor to allow the ulterra to spot lock?
It is possible to subscribe to the Ulterra GPS iLink in the HB networking Menu ... but this also subscribes to the Minn Kota heading sensor ... thus the HB would be getting GPS and heading from the Minn Kota products ...

This is not a viable scenario for a HB head unit that is at the console because this makes marking waypoints on the HB (using the Ulterra GPS) several feet away from the console HB xducer ...

This is a viable scenario for a HB head unit that is at the bow because this still keeps marking waypoints on the HB (using the Ulterra GPS) within 3ft or so of the bow HB xducer ...

One caveat of the HB subscribing to the Minn Kota Kota products for GPS and heading is that the TM must be deployed and powered on before the HB can subscribe to those Minn Kota products ...
