If you run it in simulator mode you will be fine .... if you want to run it in normal mode just do a quick press of the power button and turn off sonar to be safe.

Simulator mode is the best way to learn since all the functions will be there to practice and setting changes will be saved. With normal mode you won't get chart screens unless you also connect a GPS puck.

LOL Did scan my living room. Ended up getting a 12v power converter and a power cable. Works fine. The simulator mode allows me to learn the various screens, make and save changes and all that stuff. Able to clear old waypoints and routes, change those settings..
