I just came across this update for HELIX 10 SI GPS (Version 1.610) Release Date: 01/19/2018
Do you "Always" update your unit to the latest software even if any fixes or additions will NOT affect the way you use your unit? I'm running v.1.350 on my G1 Helix 10 SI GPS it looks like this newer version is only going to apply to things that I do not have like Talons, and G2 networking. It's always a little scary to go updating the software if something goes wrongit can get ugly real fast so I have not decided if I should do it since I don't think there will be much benefit for me personally.

That update will also have any other updates released since the version you have installed right now. From difference in numbers it appears there might be a couple of more for your unit.

Well after I posted this I finally decided what the heck and went ahead with the update, actually before I seen Rickie's post. If I would have check back sooner I would have waited but to late now, guess there might be a little of that in my genes too Rickie.![]()

Did you notice the new screen combos available, such as....with side imaging all the way across the top and down imaging all the way across the bottom along with a few other other new screen views? You were a couple of updates behind, so you may notice a few things here and there. A lot of people are most happy about some of the new screen combos. I generally update, but I don't jump on a update as soon as it comes out. I like to let others go use it and find any new bugs. This one you just did, I did it the other day too. I was hearing no bad stuff, so I did. Glad I did too. Besides the things they list as added, they usually also slip in some fixes for a bug or two... or as in this case... added some screen views people have been asking for.

I thought there was some different screen views but was not sure since previously I was just using a few of them.
One big reason to update. If you call support with a problem. The very first question from them usually is " Is your unit up to date ? ". The only time I had a problem with updating was with a 899SI. The update contained a fix for random shutdowns. Ironically the unit shut down in middle of update which bricked the unit. Called support and they took care of me.
I never update if I am happy with the way my units are running. On one of my older Birds I had some issues that an update helped but other than that never.

I always save all updates received. If I install a new update that doesn't help, I can always revert back to the older version.
