I dont know that I would say keep up. Both have their perks. Our tourney boat has both. With the lowrance, you just plug, turn on, and go. With the 'bird there is a lot of trial and error with tweaking settings.

I agree,was not really impressed with the mega the couple times I've been around one.Scanning structure is a little brighter but I can tell what it is with my lss1 because I know what I'm looking at from spending time on the water.The mega will make fish stand out better when scanning though,haven't payed much attention to the down imaging ,usually scanning when in my buddies boat.They mega would probably help a novice though,but someone who has experience and spent time on the water it wouldn't be worth the extra money to me,just my opinion.
