    Default Lowrance Hook 7 problem

I just bought a Lowrance Hook 7 for the bow of my boat. I hooked it up to its own battery and I am using the transducer in my MG Xi5. It was working great until a few days ago. Now for some reason it will only stay on for a few minutes and then turns itself off. I can power it back up and same thing happens, on for a couple minutes and then off again. I rewired all the connections and checked the battery but it still does it. At one point I thought I had fixed it because it stayed on for several minutes. I had it just sitting in the bracket (I remove my electronics after every trip) and I went to tighten it down and angle it the way I like it, off it went! I don’t know what else to try or where else to look to find the source of the problem. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Might try a soft reset. Had the same thing happen to my elite 7 and the soft reset fixed it

Rusty ... I'd be calling Lowrance and have them send me a new head unit. I have a Hook 7 that I just bought for Christmas, but not yet mounted on the boat. I've been hooking it up to a battery (inside) and manually adding waypoints, and haven't had any such problem. But, if I did (or do in the future) ... then Lowrance is going to know about it, quickly !!

My HDS 5 will do that when my battery is getting low ice fishing, is it possible your battery voltage is low?

I checked the battery and it shows full charge and 12 volts. Not sure how to soft reset. I am going to contact lowrance ASAP. Hope it’s nothing major. Thanks for the help guys.

Turn the unit off. Hold your pages button down, turn the unit on while still holding the pages button down. Hold the pages button down until the warning screen pops up and then hit accept. I’m by no means an electronic expert, this is just something that worked for me when I was having an issue with mine

Thanks for the help guys. I decided to take it back to Cabela’s and get the HDS 7 Gen 3. I have the 12 at the console and haven’t had any problems so I figured trying to go the cheaper route isn’t always the best. Thanks again for the help

    12V is a dead battery.
