Default Using a HB 788 ci for mapping?

Im trying to use my 788 ci for just mapping on my console . I connected it to a battery while in the yard and it goes in the demo mode , will I have to connect a transducer to it for this to work . I have a navionics map card installed . How do I get this to work. Also I have a new lakemaster south card in my 998 , will this card work in the 788. Thanks in advance

In demo mode go in and see if you can't turn off sonar. That should fix it where you can run mapping. You might have to load the latest up date. Then it is supposed to be able to run lakemaster. I can run it on my 597. Which is almost the same unit.

Use the steps provided in this link to set your unit up to start in Normal without a xducer connected (the link title is not your issue but the steps involved are the same) ...

I'll give that a try Rickie. I'm moving the 788 to consol and making room for a new addition. Not sure if I need to move my 998 or put it up for sale , when I get a Mega. Thanks for your help

I will add that it is important to shut off Sonar like Cray mentioned to keep the transmitters from firing to open circuits with no xducer attached ...

The unit should remember these settings changes if always powered off by the Power button (not using an external switch to shut off the unit) ...

Sonar Off/On is found under the Sonar tab ... and under the Power Xpress Menu (1 short press of the Power button) ...

Lakemaster compatibility may be dependent on which model 788 and/or software.

I may just run the navionics on the 788 & leave lake master in the 998 thanks.
