    Default Hook 9 reviews

Just got a new pontoon and looking for a fairly nice inexpensive unit. I found the Lowrance hook 9's on sale for about $550 at west marine. Had a helix 9 on my last boat. Anybody have one and can give me a little input. If the unit is pretty good, can't beat the price for a 9 inch. I use the di and sonar and maps. Had SI on my last unit, but did not use it often so not really looking for that feature.
Thanks Cray thanked you for this post

The Hook series is a stand alone unit series ...

If networking is in your future = Hook series should be off the list ...

what if you couldn't care less about networking. trying to catch a few crappie, but still can catch them with a cane pole when necessary.

I have a hook 7 and i love it. Dumped my HB stuff and am never looking back. The hooks did have a updating lag on the gps but there is a easy to use updated file to fix that issue. But if the hook unit you get may already have the updated software in it. as for clarity ease of use I love it.

Networking will probably not be an issue on the pontoon. I will probably put a trolling motor on it, but probably not another unit. I went ahead and ordered it, but it is now backordered for almost a month.

Hook series is definately a valid option if networking is not in your future ...

if you want the SI, which i do for dock fishing, what would you recommend. have a pontoon too already have TM and don't think networking is in my future. so many different units out there am really confused and my son has gotten to love my toon and is going to buy me/him a FF but want it practical. thanks for any help.
