Thread: ping speed

Sometimes I think better off the water. Not always right but I am always thinking about my depth finder. The lake that I usually fish is not deep( about 10 'is average) with 13' being the max. It seems that in shallow water , the ping speed should be reduced to normal or less. Should this be better than always having the setting on "fastest"and not always having the best picture. I know that I could try this out on the water. I was just wondering if there was a set rule or if it would make a difference!You always need to get the answers from " the guys who know". I've read the slower your moving the slower the ping. I set mine at the slowest in my kayak
