Default Transducer on Bobs Jack plate?

    Hello,

I just added a Bob's Jack Plate to my aluminum boat. Has anyone had much success mounting the Humminbird XHS HDSI 9 180T transducer to the jack plate?

I noticed that Transducer Shield and Saver has a mount for this type of setup.

Here is a video on the install

Has anyone done this with much success? Any issues with this type of setup? How well does it mark your depth?

    Thanks!

The only issue with this type of jackplate install is that the left side beam may bounce off the opposing vertical jackplate surface ... creating a constant echo close to the centerline in the SI image ...

Point #1 - This can be eliminated by also installing a hole shot plate under the jackplate so the SI beam has nothing vertical to the side to echo off of ...

Point #2 - It's unlikely there will be any fish, bait, or structure this close to the xducer that this jackplate echo would cover up in the SI image ...

I've gone ahead and ordered a Splash Pan / Hole Shot Plate from Bob's machine. Cost me $55 with shipping, not too bad if it means cleaning up my imaging.

Now my next question, do I mount the transducer directly to the Splash Plate? or should I use the Transducer Shield and Saver mount along with the Splash Pan?

    Thanks,

This would be a matter of preference ...

It would save a few dollars mounting direct to the hole shot plate and not buy the Transducer Shield and Saver bracket ...

yes, that is what I was thinking as well. Would mounting it dead in the center of the splash plate be best for avoiding any bounce?

Mounting in the center of the hole shot plate will give the best advantage is clear view left and right for the SI beams ...
