Thread: Trying to Decide Which One---

I'm going to upgrade my boats electronics and I'm having a hard time deciding. I know this is a loaded topic as people have brand loyalty but I just cannot decide between the Humminbird® SOLIX 12 SI CHIRP MEGA or the Lowrance® HDS-12 Gen3 Totalscan

If I were looking to buy those size units, I think I would be looking really hard at the Solix. I have Lowrance HDS units and I'm actually going to be changing in the near future to Helix 10's. The new MEGA imaging available on the Helix and Solix units is VERY impressive. You would have to go with the 3d package in the HDS to get images close to being as good as the Mega imaging, but I still think the humminbird is better.

The Lowrance is a really good unit with a longer track record than the Solix though. First run electronics sometimes have some bugs to work out, but honestly they all seem to have bugs from time to time. My money would be with the Solix, but that's just my opinion. I haven't had my hands on one yet though.
