    Cool Forward Looking SI ?

Is anyone using there SI for forward looking & searching? I recently added an independent transducer mount up front to handle my HB SI transducer and in the instructions it mentioned that if you do not pin the rod in one place you would be able turn it at a 45 degree angle and do this. Though it's not a replacement for 360, it actually would be getting clearer more useful info at least at the 45dg. on one side of the boat. If anyone is doing this would be great to see some forward SI screen shots.

"Probably laying around somewhere in the in the secret RD rooms of Humminbird and Lowrance are the new "Full View" and "Live View" transducers which will let us see 180 degrees of crystal clear forward looking images." Guess I'd better start saving my money now!

It is not possible to simply "aim" a SI xducer and get results like a camera captures everything in front of the camera lens ...

The SI beam (very thin front to back) has to scan (move forward) for the individual ping data to be pieced together into the SI image (much like an MRI takes slice pictures of the human body and then the MRI software can piece those MRI slices back together to get an image of the complete body) ...

1 single SI ping data is painted into the SI image along the very top horizontal row of pixels ...

The very next SI ping data is also painted into the image along the very top horizontal row of pixels ... meanwhile "pushing" the previous SI ping data down to the next horizontal row of pixels ...

It is possible to slowing rotate the SI xducer to scan in any direction like the Lowrance SpotLightScan ...but very difficult to get good results ...
