I have a friend who bought one a week or so ago. The slot is not as deep. We were not able to mount the transducer cable in the groove like I had been able to, on the Terrova that I bought earlier this year.

You are correct. I just received my new 2017 and you cannot run the cable in the slot. There is a spring (lift assist) toward the bottom of the slot that prevents this. Thanks for the reply.
