Pretty good little unit with clear picture, GPS works good. Neg is small screen, if good eyes and unit is close to you not bad. Big thing is if the price is right. Discontinued unit, Helix units replacing them with little better picture in comparable unit with more up to date technology. To me it's all about the price.

I checked out the unit & read some reviews on it, in anticipation of answering your post. Most often negative comment was about the GPS ... slow position upload, flakey at times, that kind of stuff. I don't, however, remember the dates of those comments. And since I know nothing of the unit or how long it's been on the market, those problems could have been resolved or may still be present ... (some reviews were good, with no mention of any GPS problems)

A 5" screen with DI & map on it IS a bit small and may be hard to read .... I know, because I have a Lowrance Elite 5DSI on my boat, and it has a 5" screen. But, it was a significant upgrade from the b/w 2d sonar unit that was originally on the bow of the boat. I love the DI, and wouldn't EVER want to have to go back to 2d sonar. My unit is out of production, due to the Lowrance people deciding to add 2d sonar capabilities into this model line (totally useless IMHO). It's now called the Lowrance Elite 5 HDI.

The only kick I have against the HB units is the readings are on a white background block, and that obscures a portion of the screen (to a degree, especially on the Helix series). The Lowrance units just have the readings numbers over the sonar picture on the screen. By "readings" I am referring to depth, temp, speed, etc. numbers.

It's a good unit but out dated. I would go with a helix DI instead. I reccomend the 7 inch at least. Much better detail. Readings can be removed on humminbird units to show full screen and are not on a white background on all screens.

GUYS ONE POINT IS ALWAYS MISSING WHEN WE TALK ABOUT SIZE,UNITS ARE MEASURED ON A SLANT LIKE TOP LEFT CORNER TO BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER,WHEREAS IN GETTING A UNIT HEIGHT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ON A 2D AND DI WHEREAS SIDE WAYS MEASUREMENT IS MORE IMPORTANT WITH SI,THAT ALSO MAKES BIGGER PIC JUST INFORMATION IS NOT THERE AS LONG
