    Default Garmin Clutter

Just got my new striker 7 installed on my trolling motor and can't seem to get a clear image using the down view. Is this normal clutter or is there a way to get rid of it?

Is this with motor running and does it do the same thing with motor off? If all the time look in menus for a noise filter and turn it up and see if that dosn't clear up. Sorry I never used a Garmin so do not know where to tell you to go.

Looks kinda like thermocline that is changing brightness while sensitivity is being changed ...

This is with the motor off, it's mounted up front and I use it while spider rigging. No other units running either. 95% of the time it looked like the top picture and was always a solid line there, then it would break up at times like the bottom picture

It has a gain setting I'm pretty sure, I'm used to my humminbird so I looked for a sensitivity setting but couldn't find one

    Interference can be adjusted here
    Surface noise can be hidden

The abrupt changes in the "bright to dark" sections of scrolling data could be the unit adjusting the "Auto Gain" feature ...

If that is true (and there is no TM interference when stepping on the TM) = then the cloudy looking stuff would most likely be thermocline or a plankton bloom ...

Test on a different day or different lake (or part of the lake) ...

If it continues ...post back with more pix ...
