    Default Help with helix 5

My wife bought me a helix 5 di gps for Christmas. I hooked it up in my house to put in some waypoints that I had on my phone. After putting in 20 waypoints I decided to take a break. Turned unit off. When I turned it back on none of my waypoints had been saved. All settings had went back to default. I was using the simulator to set waypoints. Tonight I tried again with same result. So first question is do I need to use simulator for this task. I also ran a self test and it showed that the gps isn't connected. I don't have a sd card in either. I think this is something small that I'm overlooking but not sure. Thanks for any help!!

Were you marking waypoints in the "Demo Simulator" and not the "Forced Simulator" ... ??

"Demo Simulator" does not save any settings or NAV data entered ... It's a feature that big box stores use to easily revert the unit to factory by simply power cycling the unit ...

Shut off the "Demo Simulator" under the Setup tab so that it never shows up again ...

Then power cycle the unit and press Menu during startup ...

Choose "Simulator" from the choices in the popup ... This is "Forced Simulator" ...
