    Default Ugrading/ Plug and Go??

Its easier to ask here than research and I want to thank all the "experts" that consistently view this forum and help all of us.

Going to upgrade console to Helix 9 or 10... I currently have the 798CI HD SI on the console and the 597CI HD on the bow on my Terrova US2. Can I move the 798 to the bow and just "Plug and Go"? Or would I be better off leaving the 597 where it is since the SI is probably not gonna work anyway.

Thanks in advance for any input.

if it helps any, I run a 798ci hd up front and a 597ci hd di and 998 at the console. use the 597 for tracks and 998 for scouting.

If it was me, I think I would move the 798 install transducer on motor and run the cable up the shaft. My reason being have seen some SI shots that look pretty good from that instillation but the DI from bow mount would be what I think would be your big gain with that instillation irregardless of the SI quality.

You can connect the 798 to the US2 ... But it will only be 2d ...

You would not have functionality of the 798 DI/SI ...

If you choose this scenario ... Change the "Transducer Select" menu (under the Sonar tab) to "Dual Beam" ...so that the SI transmitters are not firing ...
    -----

If you want DI/SI from the 798 on the Terrova ...you will have to mount the SI xducer to the foot of the TM ...
    -----

You could also connect the 798 HD to the new HELIX with an Ethernet cable and choose to see the available Sonar (of the HELIX) from the transom mounted xducer on the 798 ...and choose to see 2d from the US2 ..

If possible, can you explain this a little more.....I'm not quite following exactly what I would be able to do. Sorry, just not very versed in these electronics.. When you say see the available Helix from the 798, what would be the difference in seeing the si from the 798 on the bow , or switching and seeing the SI from the Helix through the 798? (If this is even what you are suggesting) Thanks again

Your first post didn't mention which HELIX so I stated "available Sonar " ...

Now I assume the HELIX SI ... Which I can explain better ...

You can put the 798 SI on the bow and connect it direct to the Terrova US2 to get 2d ...

You can also Ethernet the 798 to the HELIX SI ...then the 798 can get DI/SI from the HDSI xducer that is connected to the HELIX SI thru the Ethernet ... This would be a scenario without mounting a xducer to the Terrova ... the only downside is the DI/SI seen on the 798 would be from the back of the boat 20ft away from the 798 ...
    ------

The other scenario would be to mount the 798 SI xducer to the Terrova to get 2d/DI/SI from the xducer mounted to the Terrova ...
