    Default What unit to purchase.

I'm looking to you experts for a little help. I'm thinking about a new 899 or the HELIX 7 and I'm not sure of the better value. Both unit seem to perform about the same from what I read, but that doesn't tell the real world. I need information from the guy that gets out and fish and not some marketing booklet, so if any of you guy's can give me a little help on how I can best spend my money I sure would appreciate it. And thanks ahead for any help you may offer.

Between the 2 you mentioned the 899 because of being able to network. I agree with crappielimits good things are coming from Humminbird in the next few months.

I have the 899 and my buddy has the helix 7. To me they are the same unit for everyday fishing. Except for the preset buttons on the 899. Now that I have used both I would've still paid the extra for the 899. And like said above its networkable

My list above is regarding the HELIX 7 (which does not have the 800kHz capability) ...

Rickie, are you saying that I need to upgrade to the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T transducer if I purchase the 899 unit? I'm new at this, so all of this is greek to me.
    Thanks for all the help.

    John
