well there is no reason for me to try it cause first thing I'd do it is drag it across a rock dike or big old stump.
I kind of really don't believe it to be honest. If anyone has ever dove in a lake, they will notice that there are noises coming from all over the place. A motor from a boat at long distance will sound like a buzzing noise, as it gets closer, it gets louder. Do the fish feel the ping of the xducer? Probably, but whether it is in the front or the back, they are still going to feel it. Just not as pronounced from one to the other.
Fishing Lake Michigan, downrigger cables are known to put out small ohms of electricity. Many people thought that this electricity was causing fish to become scared of hitting leads off from a downrigger. Several companies came out with a black box that you plug in to the rigger cable basically grounding the rigger so that it doesn't send the pulse. One could then surmise that that particular rigger "should" catch more fish. I tested one of these in great length and never had a day when this caught any more fish than another. I think it was a person trying to figure out why his boat wasn't catching as many fish as the boat next to him. Instead of testing both of them to come up with a logical answer (other than the amount of Ohms his cable put out) he probably would have come up with the fact that the other boat was fishing with different size cannon balls, different make up that caused different water distortion, and different release clips. Furthermore, they were probably fishing with different leads hence the reason for success.
Sometimes, it isn't what one is doing to NOT catch fish, but what they are NOT doing to catch fish.
We have all seen time and time again where one guy is catching fish like crazy while another guy cannot buy a bite. Could it be that he is a better fishermen? No, probably not. He is just doing something that you are not doing. That is a lot of stuff. From line diameter, to hook size and even the color of the hook at times. Usually, the simplest of things are the hardest to find.
