All the way to the skeg means drill a small hole thru the skeg and attach the ground wire with a screw or bolt

I'm not familiar with doing this on a Minn koda. (Maybe better off with ferrite chokes) I don't no.For the best results though, I think there needs to be a ground at the lowest spot on the trolling motor. You can check, by running a continuity test.to see if there's a ground to the skeg

On my motorguide xi5, I have continuity from the skeg back to negative of power to sonar or actually all the way back to the batteries.

Kosmo, Ljones, I have a copper blade clamped to the top of the motor and though that should be a good ground all the way to the bottom of the skeg, but will check. The wire is ran all the way back to the TM batteries. Thanks

    Interesting,
I'm going to reveal my stupidity here but I'd assumed my skeg was some or of composite.
