    Default NETWORKING HUMMINBIRD UNITS

Anyone have a link to a thread on how to work the available networking features on Humminbird units? I've searched and haven't found much. I have a 999 and 959 DI on the boat and was out with them for the first time yesterday. I know they're supposed to be able to share waypoints and I'm supposed to be able to read the 999's SI from the 959 up front. Tips or tricks?

Go into the Network tab of the main menu system and make sure both units are set to "Share Waypoints" ...

Waypoints are not "transferred" into the other unit's library ... The waypoint only resides in the unit memory that created the waypoint ...

Waypoints are "read" from the other unit's memory and displayed in a different color ...(Both units have to be powered in to "read" each other's waypoints) ...

Do you have a copy of the Ethernet Networking Installations & Operations Manual?
If not, shoot me an email and I can send you a pdf file of one.

    Greg-
I found a copy online, but it was outdated. The copy I found stated that units could only share imaging with units that had the same imaging systems, i.e. my 959 DI won't read the 999's SI or its DI from SI. I thought some of the recent updates had changed this and made it to where the units would share imaging even if they were different systems. If you have an updated copy I would graciously accept.

On the sharing waypoints, I know I had this feature turned on for the 999, but not certain I did the same on the 959.

    Thanks!

Yes, through software updates the xx9 units (Examples: 899ci HD Si, 959ci HD, 1159ci HD DI) can share more of their sonar between dissimilar models. Your 959 and 999 units should be able to do this.

You are going to have to send me a direct email message to get the manual as I don’t see a way of attaching a file to my reply here, plus no way to email you from this web site. My email addy is in my signature.

    Manual sent jaoetp.
The current version says about the same thing: "A control head must be compatible with a network transducer in order to use it as a sonar source and display its frequencies. Visit our Web site at humminbird.com for transducer compatibility information."
It does refer you to the Humminbird web site where there is a FAQ that deals with it: http://www.humminbird.com/Category/S...tSonarSharing/
It will take you to a chart and if you look where the 999 and 959 DI models intersect you will see that they share all sonar between them.

I looked at the chart you posted, Greg. I am considering buying a 999 for my console and leaving my 859 ci do HD on my tm up front. The chart shows an intersection for 455 and 800, side imaging. Does this mean I can access the image my 999 is showing on the 859? Thanks.
