I like dropping marker buoys on structure and then scan from different angles (with different settings) during my xducer experiments ...

Dropping a bouy is a good idea! I know exactly where a few things are on 2d then I could go scan it over and over until I dial it in. Thanks Rickie

Si range is a key to locating and being able to see whats inside or around structure.. took me a while to get used to my 899 also.. its a trial and error kinda thing.. im now using my down imaging while checking brush piles and using the side imaging more while searching for scattered or suspended fish.. I never set my SI range more than 50 ft..

That's what I've done also I turned mine down to 50' and put sharpness on high then if I see something I whip a bouy out and swing by it again someday I will get a unit that I can link with it on the front but for now I have a 597 di up there and when I find what I'm looking for w it I set a waypoint on it too. It defiantly takes a lil learning. Hope to get a lot more time to play w it this sat
