    Default Deeper fish finder

My wife got me a deeper fish finder for vday and been very anxious to put it to use, I have tried it a couple times since receiving it but yet to mark a fish, I've been using it in ponds that I typically do very well on so I wanted to see how it worked out there, so far it is very impressive and helpful, picking up structure, weeds, trees ect but no fish, really hoping just haven't picked any up yet and the deeper is working fine rather than a issue of not marking fish but everything else. Anyone have any experience with this gadget? Name: uploadfromtaptalk1426781285676.jpg

Always thought those things were really cool. I just don't understand how they are a tool for fishing. Are you supposed to cast it out, reel it over some area of the water, see a fish, reel it back in, grab your other rod, cast to that spot and catch a fish? Wouldn't it be easier to just cast to that spot in the first place with lure or bait to test whether there is a fish or not? At least in that scenario the fish didn't see a big black ball being pulled over their heads. As a fun thing to do and maybe scout for fish or cover for fishing at a later time it makes more sense to me. I'll bet your not marking fish yet because they are deeper and really close to the bottom. I doubt the deeper sonar is powerful enough to seperate returns that are so close together. Even my big humminbirds show a fish on the bottom as a band of color that is integrated with the bottom never an arc. It's a nice gift and something I would like to play with that's for sure.

The way I've seen it used is for like yaks and smaller boats of that nature you can attach it to it or shore fishing like myself most the time throw it out and I use a wide beam to cover more area and typically just let it float out there and float around the area I'm fishing, it goes to a battery saving snooze mode after awhile or you can snooze it from your phone at any time. So far it's really neat, but one thing I've found that I don't like it when getting close to the shore anything under 4ft it reads to shallow and won't read anything. I see a ton of good reviews and great videos on it but haven't had much time to play with it. I'm gunna go out this weekend try to get more time using it. I see a ton of people use it for ice fishing but I don't do any of that.

Oh yeah that makes sense, never thought of just leaving it out or using with a small boat. My humminbird screen just turns yellow in anything under 4 feet so don't feel bad. That's a great idea for ice fishing! Man, link it to you iphone and have no wires as it bobs around in the hole. Too bad I don't ice fish anymore or I would get one.

Until it proves itself to you, I would use it to locate trees and brush in water and fish them to see if there is fish inside. It's hard for even more expensive units to see fish in the middle of a brushpile
