The pulse or click you hear is normal its just the transducer working . sometimes it louder then other times its the unit varying the power .

I was trolling last Saturday & I heard a clicking noise. My hearing aint what it used to be so I thought no way. Sho nuff it was my transducer pulse. I have two on the same unit so I switched it to the back and could still hear it. My wife says she always hears it in the back of the boat. Anyone else hear this pulse? And if so, no wonder these tournament guys turn there units off when they find fish.

I hear mine when it's out of the water and turned on. I have a jon boat and sit in the back next to ducer and don't hear it on the water. I have an 899.

Can't hear it in the drivers seat but my buddy up front can. He was complaining about a clicking noise all day and amazed I couldn't hear it. When I hung my head over the transom it was clear as day.
I heard it on my PMax-220. Not sure about my 899. I learned to tune it out on the PMax.

I just turn my hearing aids offI have never heard my 998 on rear but once in awhile I can hear the one on troller. Think it must transfer up through the shaft.
