For $330 w/o a td the 7X is not a bad deal. The only down side is no GPS, if it's not important go for it. IMO you will miss the 7" screen.

I am dangerous while cooped up in this house. I have a elite 7 hdi on the front of my boat. I have an extra 83/200 htz 455/ 800 skimmer transducer. Would I be better off to purchase an elite 7x hdi w/o a transducer and avoid the learning curve of buying a helix 5 di. I have read the manual and am not sure I want to go through that again with another unit. I don't need to connect the units and already have gps on the bow. I am not into side scan and feel the di is all I would be interested in. This would involve turning to read the screen from the front. Will I miss my 7" screen? How hard is the helix to learn? Is it comparable to the elite 7 hdi..... If this weather doesn't get better I may do something I will regret ... Trying to ride it out......crappie1133

justin61, Thanks for the input .I like your thinking. I have a GPS on the bow unit. I am not into networking, waypoints etc. Not sure how benifical side scan would be , but I like down scan. Where did you see that price? Better than what I have seen....Thanks again for your thoughts. Maybe it will warm up and I can get this out of my head
The Helix is about as simple as it gets...very easy to understand menus. If you're sitting at the bow and using full screen 2d or di, then the Helix wouldn't be bad. You cant lay them top/bottom split like I think a 7 can. You'd be stuck with a side/side view. If you want some pictures or anything else, let me know and I can fire mine up.
