20° cones were pretty much the norm until a few years ago. Coverage is about 1/3 of the depth. So at 30' you are seeing about 10' of the bottom.

Thanks for the info I went the Lowrance web site my 50/200 transducer covers half as much area. At 30 feet 50 khz covers 6 feet 83 khz covers 12 feet.
With the 50/200 you can be sure the fish marked will be close to your boat. You can use Lowrance web site to contact them & ask for a transducer # for a 83/200.
Tell them how deep you will be fishing etc. They are most helpful. With the part # check out Amazon or Ebay, Usually get free shipping. Bob.
