    Default Google Earth Mapping


    How to load Google Earth maps on your Lowrance.

    Download Qgis program. It is open source and free.

    Download Insight Map Creator from Navico. It is a fee app.

    Watch this Youtube video and learn how to georeference Google Earth images.

    Follow the directions in the Navico Insight manual (pdf).

    Take time and learn how to do it. Be patient with yourself.

    I finished my mapping of the new Carroll County lake which is nearby. I have it calibrated and it looks good. I used the history clock and went back in time to when they had cleared the land that makes the lake bottom. Just like DI all over the lake.

    Took me several editions, but I have a good map now.

    Good project and good mind exercise.

    This map is now on my HDS. You can see the google clouds.


    Here is a link to the lake. This year should be a good year for crappie. The lake is 3 years old.

    PM me your email address and I will send you the at5 file. You will need to copy it to an sd card and install the sd when you get to the lake. It is just a map file. Plug in the sd, and the map loads. To see the map, you have to zoom to the 200ft range. The lake is tiny compared to the earth.
