If you run a heavy enough gauge wire from the battery to where you are going to connect the units then you can use it to connect both units easily. The heavy gauge wire is merely an extension of the battery terminals.
I would suggest that you not run the units on the same battery you start your engine with. When you crank the engine it pulls a lot of amps and draws from the battery which reduces the output to the units. Some units have low voltage warnings or go off if voltage is too low. You could run into issues with having them on the same battery in the long run. You are still fine in my opinion but it's just a suggestion.
