Ipilot vs Xi5
I've seen it discussed inside other threads, but I want to see what the consensus is now that the Xi5 has been on the market for a bit. I need more repairs for my current MK w/ Ipilot. It seems like MG may have the advantage on Spot Lock, but what about the other features. I will tell you that MK's runtime on a battery was the main selling point to me before. Anyone that has owned both units, please speak up.

As DonG put in another post, the Minn Kota would venture 18' before the tm responded. I don't care how much power the TM uses if it can keep me where I want to be. Link the xi5 coupled with Lowrance HDS electronics. I've no problem with purchasing an extra battery for the TM if needed. I already have one battery dedicated to TM only.
The answer you seek is a NO BRAINER!

BTW, BEEN LAST 3 DAYS AND WAS JIG FISHING OVER BP AND ONE DAY WINDY AND STAYED ON BP GOOD,DOES BETTER IF IT IS WINDY THAN REAL CALM

Battery life, for me, will always be an issue. It's not uncommon for me to fish 3 or 4 days straight in tournament conditions, sometimes only getting 5 or 6 hours to charge between days. I have a spare, as well, but I have yet to have to use it with the MK.Originally Posted by Crappie Reaper

I can truthfully say that I have never run a battery down with either MK or MG. I do, however, charge my batteries nightly as I am not a tournament fisherman.
MG does have Heading Lock & Cruise Control. I have used both sparingly but both have worked well..
Like gene said, we both are brush pile & dock fishermen and you just can't beat MG's Anchor Lock. Not at the present time anyway. I'm sure that MK will take care of their Spot Lock problem soon.
If you Spider Rig, Longline, crankbait puller or pusher then MK would be good for you. MK is a quality product with one shortcoming.

Yes up to a 4 mile route, actually tomorrow will be the first day I use My Xi5 although I will still be using My old 2d FF until I scrap up another thousand bucks. I did buy a 80# 24v model to assure battery life seeing I normally fish 10hp lakes.
